Supporting Diversity & Inclusion (D&I): Supplier Diversity in Insurance

Why support D&I in the insurance industry?

More and more businesses are realizing the importance of building teams inclusive of all races, ages, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and other diverse backgrounds, while also seeking out diverse suppliers that deliver exceptional products and services.

Everyone benefits when business leaders’ intrinsic values related to equity, diversity, culture, and inclusion are aligned with their business objectives – and furthering diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives in all industries (especially in those, such as insurance, that were historically dominated by one gender or ethnicity) is an important step forward for everyone.

The time to take action and be part of the change is now.

What is the Diversity & Inclusion in Insurance Badge?

This badge certifies that the organization displaying it supports diversity and inclusion in insurance. Business insurance brokerage ownership is the least diverse of any space in the nation. Per a recent Google search, there are only two certified minority-women-owned national insurance brokerages in the entire country (MBE and WBENC).

Who may display the badge?

HCP National provides its valued clients with digital “We Support Diversity & Inclusion in Insurance” badges so that they can choose to proudly display one of the ways they are taking allied action and creating powerful, positive change in their communities. The objective is to change the perception that not only one gender and group can aspire to own their own commercial insurance brokerage; all genders, races, ages, ethnicities, and sexual orientations are welcome.

Simply displaying the D&I Badge brings more awareness to the D&I movement in the corporate space. This simple show of support may influence other businesses to take action and improve their own D&I purchasing policies in insurance brokering.
